Sigenergy issued a voluntary recall in December, specifically for the inverter component of their 8, 10 and 12 KW single-phase Energy Controllers.
Sigenergy has announced a voluntary recall of its 8, 10 and 12 kW single-phase Energy Controllers. This is the inverter component built into the battery system.
Note: There is no issue with the battery itself. Your system is still safe to use.
Bluegum is sharing this update to ensure our customers are informed and supported as Sigenergy addresses the issue.
Here's What You Need To Know
Sigenergy has identified that their 8, 10 and 12 kW single-phase Energy Controllers were manufactured with an AC connector that may cause an issue if installed correctly.
This will affect the inverter component, but not the battery itself.
All single phase 8/10/12kW inverters that are online have already received a firmware update, which allows Sigenergy to monitor each system proactively and temporarily reduce the AC output if the inverter is operating at a sustained full load.
Sigenergy’s voluntary recall is just a precaution. There have been no known failures to date.
Owners of Sigenergy batteries do not need to switch anything off or stop using their systems during this voluntary recall.
Sigenergy has chosen to voluntarily recall and replace the affected Energy Controllers, further reflecting their commitment to safety and reliability.
What You Need To Do
The most important thing you need to do during the voluntary recall is keep your Sigenergy system connected to the internet. This will ensure the firmware update can continue to safely manage your system.
No other action is required from Sigenergy customers at this time.
If you have questions or concerns, you can always reach out to Bluegum.
What You Can Expect Next
Customers may notice slight changes in charge or discharge rates, particularly if your Sigenergy system is running at continuous full load during the voluntary recall.
This is an intentional safety measure, not a fault.
Sigenergy is yet to confirm an exact delivery timeframe for the replacement units, but rest assured that they’re working quickly to address the issue with Bluegum and coordinate delivery of the updated components.
The Good News
All affected customers will receive a free replacement Energy Controller from Sigenergy.
Customers will also receive an extra two-year warranty once the replacement installation has been completed.
Best of all, Bluegum will manage the whole process for you at no cost.
There’s nothing you need to do except wait for us to reach out to you once we’ve received instructions from Sigenergy.

I'm Thinking About Getting A Sigenergy Battery, What Does This Mean For Me?
Recalls can leave you questioning how much you can trust a business.
Unfortunately, in the world of home batteries, where technology is constantly changing, recalls happen.
The difference between Sigenergy and other battery brands is how they’ve handled their approach to their voluntary recall.
Should I Avoid Sigenergy?
Sigenergy’s voluntary recall shouldn’t deter you from their products. If anything, Sigenergy’s proactive approach to owning and addressing the issue shows accountability and integrity.
We asked our CEO, Chantel Gilbert, for her two cents on the recall and why she still has trust in Sigenergy.
Do you feel comfortable that Sigenery will resolve the voluntary recall issue?
Chantel: Yes, I do. At no point in the recall process with Sigenergy have I felt concerned or fearful for our customer’s safety because we knew they were on top of it.
Sigenergy responded fast. They communicated the issue and what they were going to do about it. The way a company handles warranty issues matters, and Sig did right by their customers straight off the bat.
While the process hasn’t been completely smooth, we Sigenergy have come through and handled the recall in an organised and professional manner.
We still highly recommend Sig.
